Our Tasting Notes
One for the sweet tooth! Delicate, nuanced and complex, the spice plays second fiddle in the most extraordinary of ways weaving gracefully between layers of liquorice, white chocolate, ginger snaps and orange skins. Medium viscosity leads to peppered mead and beautiful toasted oak notes in an interestingly structured merry-go-round that’s quite light on the finish.

Description
This 3rd release from Bruichladdich’s ‘Project’ series follows on from the Ternary Project and Biodynamic Project and hot damn is it a beauty! With a mashbill of 55% Islay grown rye and 45% malted barley, it’s the first rye single grain whisky to ever come out of the Hebridean island we’ve all come to love.
The whisky was laid to rest in first fill bourbon casks and first fill American virgin oak casks before been drawn and bottled at 50% ABV. With a yield of only 1,800 bottles, the expression was a distillery exclusive that sold out immediately and we only have a handful of bottles to sell.
The Distillery comments;
“After a conversation with our Distillery Production Director, long standing farming partner, Andrew Jones, grew the rye in 2017 as a chance to support soil health and diversify our barley program – a first for the farmer, the distillery and the Hebridean island. The Regeneration Project is the start of something bigger than whisky. This is innovation which keeps value in the community while pursing flavour and reducing impact – showcasing the true power and potential of reconnecting land and dram.”
