Official tasting notes:
“Tennessee whisky from the same distillery as a previous popular Cadenhead’s release, this product of the Volunteer State has smooth caramel and honey notes – the soft nature of this dram will owe much to the Lincoln County process required by state law. Slight hints of root ginger add a little kick to the finish but the smoothness is further emphasised by the sweetened butter that appears to add another layer”.

Description
This Wm Cadenhead’s 2022 entry is music to our ears. An 18-year-old Tennessee whisky, hell yes!! The rarity of this release speaks volumes as real age statement Tennessee whisky can be quite problematic with the hot baking sun and damp earth often wreaking havoc with age. Unless the wily crew at Wm C matured this golden juice in Campbeltown….? We’ll never know. What we do know is this is one hell of a whiskey with the Lincoln County process singing from first sip to finish. It’s crisp and mellow with notes of vanilla, caramel ice-cream, golden honey and buttered corn. Delicious!
It’s fantastic to see Wm Cadenhead’s winding back the clock to include quality international spirits in their vast portfolio once again while continuing to release the Scottish delights we’ve all come to love and this expression distilled at ‘a Tennessee Distillery’ is the perfect example of that.
The last time Cadenhead’s released a Tennessee whisky, it was an instant sell-out and although the team have kept the exact Tennessee distillery private, we know there’s around 20 distilleries peppered around the hills and hollows of Tennessee and conventional wisdom dictates that only two would’ve had the capacity to provide new-make spirit 18 years ago, George Dickel and the unconquerable Jack Daniels and only one of these distilleries spell their Whisky without the E 😉
