“Less robust and rugged than I was expecting. Ashy on the finish but faintly, more cracked black pepper, a coal bunker, figs, tobacco and ground clove. Flashes of aniseed midway, dark chocolate, baked potato skin. A gentle smokiness throughout, assisted by bacon fat, embers and orange zest. Wholemeal bread and a farm yard vibe”.

Description
Guided by the majestic golden eagle that glides high above the distillery as protector and protagonist, The Ardmore is a single malt whisky shaped by its deep-rooted connection to the land, people and wildlife of its Scottish Highland home. It’s a large Victorian distillery located in the village of Kennethmont that produces a peated Highland malt which is quite rare for its geography with water drawn from the naturally rising springs that sit on the 1,500-foot tall Knockandy Hill.
Interesting Fact
The Ardmore distillery is one of only a handful of distilleries to retain coal fires under its stills.
