Description
Cadenhead’s can sometimes be ‘details shy’ when it comes to information on their whiskies, it can add an element of intrigue, however it can make it difficult to describe. We haven’t sampled this expression yet and the reviews we have read have been quite stellar. It’s a 2008 Vintage 14-year-old single malt aged in Oloroso sherry.
About Blair Athol Distillery;
The distillery stands at the gateway to the Scottish Highlands in the picturesque town of Pitlochry, Perthshire. Blair Athol’s ancient source of water – the Allt Dour, flows through the grounds from the slopes of Ben Vrackie, contributing to the whisky’s, mellow quality and smooth finish. Cloudy worts and a short fermentation time give the nutty base, but it is distillation which adds real weight to the distillate. Around 95% of Blair Athol’s malt whisky is aged in bourbon barrels and goes into Diageo’s Bell’s blend, which has owned the distillery since 1933.
