Official tasting notes.
“No sharp smoky attack at the nose, but a refined revelation that takes its time with its darker tarry aromas and the peat unfolding a bit at a time on a background of vanilla and cereals.
On the palate it shows extreme length and complexity, with a chewy and creamy smokiness. But we also immediately find bananas, yellow apples, liquorice root, and a pleasant salty note… of green olives. It then grows ashier, alternatingly waxy and mineral, and constantly showing newer nuances.
The finale is very long, salty, with a satisfying growth of the peat smoke that matches the malty creaminess in a very relaxing way”

John Atkins –
Tastes like the one we ended up with last time to me. Jonny Walker, running. A marathon in the mouth. I love the sweet mellow viscosity contrasting to the sharpness of the alcohol, which gives way to some drying tannins, to only come into the stadium for an easy finish. Quite the journey. However I found last time that with a bottle, life is not a marathon and you need some balance. I found it more of an occasional dram, not an everyday sipper. Break it out when it’s cloudy and wet, put a tea towel around your waist, lift the knees up and sing ‘Mull of a Kintyre’….maybe that’s just me.
