Our tasting notes
The higher alcohol content amplifies both the maritime peat smoke and the rich sherry influence, delivering intense notes of dark chocolate, dried fruits, and caramelized sugar alongside the coastal brine and medicinal peat that Islay whiskies are famous for.

Bottling Notes
Kilchoman Sanaig Cask Strength, named after an inlet on Islay’s rugged Atlantic coast, is a robust expression from Islay’s farm distillery, offering an intensified version of their popular standard strength, Sanaig release. Bottled at a powerful 57.8% ABV, this single malt showcases the distillery’s signature style of heavily peated whisky matured predominantly in oloroso sherry casks with a splashing of bourbon.
Kilchoman Founder, Anthony Wills comments.
“Ever since we first launched Machir Bay at cask strength, followers of Kilchoman have been crying out for Sanaig to be bottled at the same high strength. The wait is over and it certainly packs a punch! Rich dark fruits coat the palate and a long-lasting finish of sweetness and spice make sure this smoky dram stays with you long after you’ve finished”
