Description
Each year, Laphroaig Distillery Manager, John Campbell, crafts a limited-edition malt to celebrate the Friends of Laphroaig and friendship (“Càirdeas” in Gaelic) in general. Càirdeas 2021 is triple matured in American oak ex-Bourbon barrels, followed by quarter casks and finally in European oak hogsheads containing PX sherry. This creates a complex expression that is full of character that is bottled at cask strength to ensure rich and intricate flavours.
This the 13th edition in the 10yo, cask-strength series that enthusiasts are calling “possibly the best ever’. It’s also the final cask strength pick by John Campbell who has now retired his role of Distillery Manager!
The series started in 2009 when Laphroaig began releasing special cask strength batches of their 10yo whisky once a year that unfortunately never made it in their line up for the Australian market. But never fear fellow peat-lovers, we’ve included them in our ever-growing whisky portfolio for your smoky consideration. 😉
