Tasting notes: www.whiskyfun.com 89/100
Nose: Lots of citrus, grapefruit, sweet smoke, wood staves, fresh wood, resiny, pinewood. Adding a dash of water, it really opens up and you get lovely notes of crème brûlée.
Palate: Lemon grass, sweet smoke, some wood tannins and quite dry with a nice layer of lemon pie and a touch of pineapple.
Finish: Smoky and dry. Balance/complexity: Great Laffie if you like ‘m dry ;-).

Bottling Notes
With a yield of only 4,000 bottles, this 12-year-old Laphroaig Cairdeas (loosely pronounced: Cardjus), meaning ‘friendship’ in Gaelic, was bottled at a natural cask strength and released for the 2009 annual Fèis Ìle festival on Islay and for the ‘Friends of Laphroaig’. The whisky was laid to rest in Maker’s Mark bourbon barrels and was the first ever Laphroaig bottling that was handled by current Distillery Manager John Campbell.
