With only 191 bottles released world-wide from a single cask (#801902), this Highlands single malt expression distilled at the Ardmore distillery is a celebration of youth and the transition in to adulthood with the chess themed label representing our life choices that inevitably must be made. The expression was aged in a first-fill, ex bourbon, 120 litre Koval Cask by Samaroli with the added influence of gentle peat which is the trademark of Ardmore.
Samaroli is an Italian Independent bottler that was founded by Silvano Samaroli 1968, that select, age and refine premium spirits, from the greatest scotch whisky malts, to rum and other exotic drops. The elegance, balance, complexity, finesse and depth of flavour of Samaroli whiskies are without rival with a limited production of only 12,000 to 14,000 bottles per year in total.
Our tasting notes.
A delightful nosing of poached pears, malted caramel and earthy florals give way to a chewy palate of barbequed pineapple, honeycomb, Milky-way bars and tobacco leaf. Gentle peat smoke arrives at the finish with some linseed oil and a sweetness that pleasantly lingers.
