Official tasting notes.
“We detect the medicinal and iodine predominating note, albeit one which is well harmonised with a greater aromatic structure. All against a dance of more medicinal herbs, vanilla, leather, and liquorice. Persistent in the mouth, where classic Islay saline traits dominate. A long finish, despite having a young thing raring to go in our class.
One last captivating note is a balsamic profile endowed with pungent hints, such as oregano, sesame, and marjoram. And very, very last: the iodine component remains present but does not hinder the rhythm and the breadth of this Spirit. The undertow includes yeast and notes of bread, salted butter and seaweed.”

Description
With only 348 bottles released world-wide from a single cask (#187), this Islay single malt from Williamson (AKA Laphroaig teaspoon) was aged for over a decade and then bottled at a super refreshing 52% ABV. The whisky is named Ninetynine due to the Williamson cask used being 99% Laphroaig. The result is one waxy pour brimming with all the goodness we’ve come to expect from Islay, with a Samaroli ‘complexity’ twist.
Antonio Bleve, owner of Samaroli comments.
“This Williamson is 99% Laphroaig. And as it happens, even in the best distilleries, it is vaguely blended in order to be presented with another name. Williamson or Laphroaig, it matters little. What we are showcasing here is an elegant and majestic Islay expression”.
What is a teaspoon whisky.
Tea spooning is the practice of blending minute quantities of single malt in to a cask of whisky produced at another distillery. As only a teaspoonful of liquid is added the spirit is no longer legally a single malt whisky and cannot then be attributed to its originating distillery. This approach means that the resultant spirit is unchanged (as it’s still over 99% single malt) but cannot be bottled under the distillery name by any broker or independent bottler.
