This is Samaroli’s first ever whisky matured in a 1st fill Barolo cask, and it’s every bit the treat whisky lovers have been waiting for. A landmark release from one of Europe’s most revered independent bottlers – this expression pairs Speyside single malt with the bold character of one of Piedmont’s finest red wines.

Barolo is one of Italy’s most prestigious red wines, crafted from Nebbiolo grapes grown in Piedmont. It’s celebrated for its rich tannin, bright acidity, and signature notes of cherry, tar, and rose.
Whisky can be matured in a 1st fill Barolo barrique. This is a cask that has only ever held Barolo wine, never used for a previous whisky maturation. It draws out a more intense red fruit character and firmer tannic grip. The result is a deeper, wine-like influence – far more pronounced than a refill cask could achieve.
The nose opens with red fruits, ripe plum, violet, and fig, wrapped in soft layers of rose petals, cherry wood, rooibos tea, and fragrant sweet paste. On the palate, it is rich and silky, with notes of dark chocolate, hazelnut, and sweet tobacco supported by a delicate tannic structure. The finish is long and graceful, with echoes of spicy wine, toasted oak, and sun-dried herbs.
