Official tasting notes:
Nose: Rich and creamy, developing into vanilla, ripe fruits, marzipan followed by hints of sherbet, almonds and strawberries. Earthy, honeycomb, hints of menthol and sugar-coated almonds. Let it breathe to reveal the traditional salt and brine notes.
Palate: Thick and oily, fruity and mellow; gives way to a sweet liquorice and aniseed flavour as it opens up. Salted caramel to the fore. More of that honeycomb are fairly prominent. Not as earthy as the nose may suggest, more lemon zest, nutty and spicy in character to really get the taste buds working.
Finish: Sweet and chocolatey with some coconut, the finish is long and consistent with a pleasant smokey tingle. Toffee, salt, brine and hints of peat from this true Campbeltown classic.
