Springbank 1993 ‘The Whisky Exchange’ 26 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky 70cl 44.6%

Official tasting notes: Billy Abbott, The Whisky Exchange
Nose: Chamois leather, charcoal-roasted apples and a grind of black pepper. Earthy notes and a gentle hint of straw build, with pink shrimp sweets, pineapple, peach and cantaloupe melon. Hints of gravel sits at the back with mint imperials and royal icing.

Palate: A burst of sugary sweetness leads into dark chocolate, mint and more of the chamois leather from the nose. Butter and roasted pineapple build, with balancing bitter char. Shortbread notes appear, stacked with oatcakes and apple sauce.

Finish: Farmyard hay and wood linger, with a conveyor belt of fruit slowly rolling by: apple, pear, orange, pineapple and peach.

Comment: A farmy and fruity Springer, with enough earthiness to balance the fresh fruit.
