Nose: Damp peat, smoked oysters and some sea-washed pebbles form a smoked, marine core.
Palate: Sweet dried fruit, bitter marmalade, dry woody tannins, slightly saline. Cured meats, roasted chestnuts and charred smoke follow.
Finish: Rich and smoky, with a little brown sugar sweetness.

Part of the line-up for the collaboration event between Whisky Uncovered/TBWC and Big Sam Young’s ‘S’more bistro’ in Castlecrag NSW held on the 30th of April 2023, guests were able to have first crack at purchasing this 11-year-old medicinal Caol Ila before it was offered for general sales if any stock remains available.

“The view from the Caol Ila still house across to the Paps of Jura is perhaps one of the greatest in Scotland. The name Jura derives from the Norse and means ‘deer island’ and red deer out number people by almost 30 fold there.
