Description:
This Boutique-y release is a celebration of our memories of childhood sweets and the sherbet-soaked innocence reflected by the “Disnae” book-on-tape-inspired label. First released on the 30th of April 2023 for the collaboration event between Whisky Uncovered/TBWC and Big Sam Young’s ‘S’more bistro’ in Castlecrag NSW, guests were able to have first crack at purchasing this whisky before it was offered for general sales if any stock remains available.
There’s lots to unpack here, so let dig in:
The three key components of this blend are a peachy 6-year-old Welsh single malt, an 8-year-old Irish single grain, and an 8-year-old Scottish single grain. Alongside these three signature whiskies is a 13-year-old Irish grain that has been matured in red wine casks, and two ‘top dressing’ malts with a 28-year-old Irish malt, and a 10-year-old Swiss malt, all married and mellowed in an ex-Haitian rum cask for a most delicious finish.
TBWC tells us about the label:
“Our label features The Mix Tape. Cassette tapes – remember them? I still have the very first one I bought in 1975. Anyway, this is one that’s been recorded over – check out the extra labels placed over the original cassette label, including the piece of tape over the tabs that were removed on your pre-recorded tapes… Just like a homemade compilation you’d make for your friends all those years ago”.
