Description:
This beautiful Sherry butt matured Macduff, 21 Years Old single malt is a rare beauty since just 10% of the production of malt at the Macduff distillery is bottled as a single malt whisky. The distillery is the home of the William Lawson Blended Scotch Whisky.
The label features Lord Macduff, the Thane of Fife, a character and the main antagonist in William Shakespeare’s; Macbeth. Lord Macduff is enjoying a chat and a Duff beer boilermaker before he takes ‘care of’ something that we’re guessing is quite important to the detriment of poor old Macbeth.
About Macduff Distillery
The Macduff distillery was built in 1960 tapping into the post-war whisky boom by a group of Glasgow brokers. While whisky from this distillery was known as a young single malt in Italy, it was bottled under the Glen Deveron brand.
Five stills, two wash, and three spirit, all with upward-tilting lyne arms that have a right-angled kink in them. The spirit stills also have horizontal shell and tube condensers. The character is nutty (slightly sulphury at new make stage), with quick mashing, short fermentation and cold condensers.
