This 18-year-old Elders’ Reserve was originally released for the travel retail market in 2013 and was then discontinued. It was part of a trio of malts collectively known as the ‘Manse Brae’ Duty Free Range’ after the street on which Rothes House stands. The age of the whiskies were communicated, but not printed on the labels.
And now, the Glenrothes has presented new bottlings of the Elders’ Reserve officially labelled to be 18 years old. The whisky is a marriage of equal amounts of American and Spanish oak casks (presumably ex-sherry and ex-bourbon) and was only released in limited quantities.
