Black Gate Distillery | The Old Barrelhouse

The Black Gate distillery is the first Distillery in the Central West of New South Wales located at 72 Forrest Road Mendooran and was established in 2009 and then opened in 2012 by Brian and Genise Hollingworth. They learnt their craft by travelling throughout Scotland, Ireland, Tasmania and NSW researching, and gaining knowledge in the art of distilling high-quality spirits.
The distillery currently operates with two copper pot stills and produces mainly small batch aged releases. The aged releases include Single Malt Whisky and Single Barrel Rum where Brian produces his own wash and primarily ages their spirits in Sherry Casks which gives a delicate smooth mouth feel. Genise is also one of the very few female distillers across the country who continues to break the glass ceiling with her know-how and prowess.
