Long sold out worldwide, the Jack Daniel’s Rested Rye continued the distillery’s bold exploration of rye whiskey after the hugely successful Unaged Rye release. This sought-after expression offers whisky enthusiasts an early glimpse into the evolving character of Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Rye.
The vibrant spice from the original Unaged Rye mash bill remains, while two years of barrel ageing allow toasted oak and smooth vanilla notes to emerge. Although not yet fully mature, this Rested Rye reveals the remarkable potential of Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Rye and its developing complexity.
Crafted from a mash bill of 70% rye, 18% corn and 12% malted barley, this rye whiskey matured for two years in new barrels featuring a combination of toasting levels. It also marks the first new mash bill introduced at the Jack Daniel Distillery in more than a century, making it an important release for collectors and rye whiskey enthusiasts alike.
On the nose, toffee apple and maple custard give way to virgin oak and a whisper of fruitiness. The palate is all spicy rye mingling with black pepper and a touch of citrus; and the finish settles medium and dry, lingering alongside honey and clove.
