Nose is delicate, notes of haymow planks, clover honey, fresh grain, and sweet orange peel. Somewhat pedestrian on the palate: sweet malt, dried hay, more citrus, and a touch of pepper, with a somewhat bitter finish.

Part of Woodford Reserve’s 2013 Masters Collection comes this interesting 100% malt spirit that was triple distilled in Woodford Reserve’s copper pot stills and matured in seasoned ex-bourbon barrels as opposed to their preferred virgin oak. These types of casks are traditionally used to mature scotch whisky, which offers the connoisseur a rare opportunity to taste an American whiskey as it would have been crafted prior to the innovations of new cask ageing pioneered by Pepper and Crow.
