Appearance: Hazy amber with suspended solids including barrel char.
Nose: The aroma is immediately coastal with sea spray and surf. A second pass reveals smoked bacon wrapped in campfire cooked damper drizzled in maple syrup. With time the aroma of vanilla eclairs and brandy cream emerge. A charcuterie board of cured meats sit in the background.
Palate: Salted toffee with dark chocolate shavings and ginger snap biscuits. Spiced maple syrup and more charred damper. A faint touch of rose.
Finish: Smouldering smoke and cinders from a wood fire.

Ironbark Smoked Rye Malt Whisky was released as part of Archie Rose Concepts label, a moniker reserved for only their rarest and most experimental products.
It features smoked water, created by melting large blocks of ice in a wood-fired oven using sustainably sourced NSW ironbark. The smoked water was then used to breakdown the rye malt whisky to 40% alc, an ABV Master Distiller, Dave Withers believed best highlighted the smoky notes.
The decision was also made to release Ironbark Smoked Rye Malt Whisky flocked, completely unfiltered in its natural state, with the ever-present natural haze and char remnants still swirling in the liquid.
It’s definitely something different, from a distillery at the top of their game.
