Producer’s tasting notes.
Nose: A Tension between sweet and savoury. Transports you to a carpenter’s workshop by the coast with the aroma of vanilla eclairs and sherbet. A second pass continues with sun-dried apricots, muesli and rice pudding. Time in the glass reveals cola, creaming soda and toffee.
Palate: Peach cobbler with vanilla ice cream and caramel sauce.
Finish: A subtle combination of caraway seed with sweet spices. A hint of salinity balances the sweetness.

I started my Archie Rose journey with the singular question. Can they make a decent Whisky in Sydney? The answer is unreservedly – You bet! Good quality. Good value. Great presentation. But it’s not all just marketing. They care just as much about what’s in the bottle, as to how it’s presented. Though I admit to being shallow enough to think it adds to the experience. Every time I went for a nip it was like a major unboxing event. Rye is also new for me it is a totally new flavour profile, which I lack the expertise to fully elucidate here. I did have a question about whether there was some colouring added…but they never replied from my website enquiry which was disappointing for a company that sells transparency on the production process and ingredients. This my first time meeting Archie, and I like the guy. I’m left with the feeling I’d really like to get to know him better. Well worth the money.

Worthy of the accolades they have received.
