Bottling Notes

‘Laga Cat 53’ is the little brother of Laga Cat 63 that was born from the same cask but not bottled at cask strength. The name ‘Laga Cat 53’ pays homage to the Lagavulin (Laga) cask that Crafty sourced that still had a small amount of Muscat (Cat) in the cask. The ‘53’ is in reference to the 53% ABV of the release.

Crafty sourced his new-make (spirit) from an undisclosed Sydney distillery and matured it at his distillery in Capertee NSW, in a deep char, coopered, 100L American Oak, Lagavulin ex-muscat barrel. In an age where cask strength whiskies seem to be in-vogue, this little beauty punches wonderfully hard with the lower ABV bringing more layers of complexity to the table with floral hints and citrus fruit.
