Description:
Could this be the first of its kind?
A limited release created from a traditional pot still whisky recipe, cut to the cask’s optimal strength of 46% ABV. Fully matured in French Oak ex-Botrytis casks, the spirit was made from an Irish mash bill of malted barley, raw barley and oats then triple distilled by Robbie and the Mackey’s at the Hunter Island Distillery and matured and bottled at Derwent Distillery.
Owners and distillers, Robbie and Emma Gilligan comment.
“Recently, Damien and Madeleine Mackey, founders of Hunter Island Distillery, were able to help us in reclaiming a piece of history behind Derwent Distillery. Our recent pot still expression release, crafted at Hunter Island Distillery, is a fitting tribute to the Irish roots that left a mark on early whiskey-making in Tasmania”.
