Description:
This Lark Legacy HHF585A single malt, single cask is one of two bottlings the distillery released with an extraordinary heritage, crafted during Bill Lark’s tenure as Head Distiller at a renowned, neighbouring Tasmanian distillery. This precious whisky was nurtured, soaking up complexity and history under the careful watch of Bill, at a time when the industry was still in its infancy, before finding its permanent home in the Lark bond store.
After sampling the whisky at 15-years-old, Lark Head Distiller Chris Thomson decided to add further complexity to the whisky. So, he moved Cask HH585 to a 200L Bourbon cask (HHF585A) for the final four years of maturation. The finishing cask allowed some of the base notes in the spirit to soften adding fresh layers to the nose, completing the whisky for release.
Only available via ballot, the Lark distillery released a very small allocation for our virtual shelves. We also have the twin to this expression, the Lark Legacy Cask One (HHF582B) available.
The Distillery comments:
”A superb single cask! Our Legacy HHF585A single malt is a perfect example of the wonders of cask magic. A celebration of the importance of cask selection and the wonders oak can produce; a unique single malt that has been 19 years in the making”
