Description:
Introducing Launceston’s very first Muscat cask finished whisky, created in partnership with Holm Oak Vineyards on the Tamar River in Tasmania. The rare bottling was available in very small quantities at Tasmanian Whisky Week 2021 and is presented under the distillery’s cream ‘Special Release’ label. The whisky was finished in a large French Oak Muscat Cask for a whopping 14 months.
The Distillery comments;
“Each year we receive an allocation of French Oak barrels that Holm Oak have used to age their muscat fortified wine. We then refill them at Launceston Distillery to mature our single malt whisky. This particular single malt was aged for 2 years in small Apera casks, then finished in a Holm Oak muscat cask for another 14 months before going into bottle.
We are extremely fortunate to secure these barrels from Holm Oak Vineyards, the only winery in Tasmania producing a Muscat fortified wine.”
Everything happens under the roof of the historic Hanger 17 at Launceston Airport.
