Bottling Notes

This second release whiskey from OCD has had quite the journey from cask to bottle. Their new make was laid to rest in a 27 litre, medium-toasted new French Oak barrel that immediately offered up hints of sweet caramel and roasted toffee. However, as the barrel lay quietly ageing the whiskey, a small leak formed which could have been catastrophic if not for its own healing power. Although some liquid was lost, by creating its own curative seal, combining wood sap and alcohol, the barrel formed a honey like crust around one of the hoops, locking in the maturing liquid, that would be the catalyst for a stunning end result.

Then finally, after 29 months the barrel was opened and along with the angels share, only 15 litres made it to the final stage though the abv had increased to 71%. Head distiller, Eduard Otter then meticulously cut down the whisky to a mouth-watering 49.7% ABV where the depths of aromas were unearthed to open up an incredible flavour profile.

With only 50 bottles yielded, the whiskey has already sold out at the distillery, bar a few bottles that may be kept for a special occasion, and Eduard, was more than happy to have our virtual shelves showcase his latest creation as well.
