We’ve been fortunate enough to sample every single release that’s come out of Otter Craft Distilling thanks to the generosity of owners Eduard and Julie Otter. When Ed sent us a sample of this cask strength beauty in all of its unflocked, oily (68% ABV) glory, we knew we were sampling something very special. Eduard only bottles 3 units at cask strength from each release and always reserves 1 bottle for our virtual shelves (cheers mate). 😉

The 54L American Oak barrel originally came from the now closed Baldwin Distilling Company in Mitchell, ACT who had filled it with rye whiskey. It was then emptied and sent to head distiller, Eduard at Otter Craft Distilling where he delivered the barrel straight to Dad and Dave’s Brewery in Brookvale, NSW where they proceeded to fill the cask with a Porterhouse beer for 4-5 months. The beer was then tipped and the barrel sent back to OCD where Eduard filled it with his new-make spirit for 2 years and 7 months of maturation before been decanted and bottled at 52% ABV.

The finished product was so successful in its flavour that Eduard has now sent 2 x 225 litre barrels to Dad and Dave’s brewery to fill with beer for future OCD whiskey projects. A stunning single malt whiskey that will sell out super-fast with only 59 bottles available.
