Behold the new evolution of Sullivans Cove Double Cask expression. From now on, Double Cask will be bottled at 45% ABV (instead of 40%). The distillery says they made the change to give this award winning single malt whisky improved grip, texture and length and to be more in line with their single cask expressions.
This current Sullivans Cove Double Cask Batch DC096 is comprised of one 16-year-old 300L American Oak ex-tawny cask, one 13-year-old 200L American Oak ex-bourbon cask, one 12-year-old 300L French Oak ex-tawny cask, and two 10-year-old 200L American Oak ex-bourbon casks.
Non-chill-filtered and with no added colour, the whisky is handcrafted to perfection in a bespoke copper pot still and created from renowned Tasmanian barley. It’s then double distilled using pure wilderness water from rainforests and mountains around Hobart.
Head Distiller, Patrick Maguire comments:
“Made from a marriage of five casks all matured separately from the youngest at 10 years through to the oldest at 16 years, DC096 shows a great combination of youth and age. Bottling it at 45% ABV lifts the flavour profile to another dimension. This is a very enjoyable whisky, one that our whole team can hardly wait to get their hands on.”
