Official Tasting notes:
Nose: Candied ginger, blueberries, and some lovely incense followed by dark vanilla and pastry. Red chilli pepper, cinnamon, dark chocolate, and mint extract with a mix of candied citrus peel and peaches in syrup. Absolutely dripping in plum jam and apple blossoms. And now for the beguiling and unexpected: hoisin and graphite; these are a strong nod to the Tawny influence and my golly gosh are they beautiful.
Palate: Umami explosion with star anise, marmalade, plum sauce balanced with light and zingy fresh grapefruit juice notes, followed by sweet black tea, dates, tobacco, and blackcurrant jelly. Super ripe apples and juice bombs in all corners of the palate. Sweet bell peppers, orange blossoms, and molasses. That mineral graphite note is here as well as a quiet background presence.
Finish: Absolutely delicious, mouth-watering finish with the sweet black tea continuing along with the citrus juice, this time a punch vibe. Dried mango, isn’t this fun! Blackberry jam and red frogs. Hint of lemongrass keeping it real. The gentle graphite is a wonderful structural presence which has continued throughout, and unassumingly brings balance to the thick texture and darker notes.
