Part of Sullivans Cove Cask Variations series, this American Oak Tawny Single Cask TD0199 is a different kind of American oak, laid to rest in a single 300-litre American oak cask previously used to mature Australian tawny rather than an ex-bourbon cask like their standard American Oak expression. The result is a whisky that exhibits both the rich fortified wine character of tawny port-style wine as well as the bright oak and vanilla of American oak for a flavour profile that sit somewhere in between our standard French and American Oak expressions. Note that this whisky is not “finished”, but rather spent its entire 12-year maturation in a genuine ex-tawny cask.
