Description:
In 2015, nine members of the Tasmanian Whisky Producers Association (Lark, Sullivans Cove, Overeem, Belgrove, McHenry, Redlands, Mackey, Iron House and Fanny’s Bay) each donated 20 litres of new-make spirit to be expertly blended at Tasmania Distillery. The resulting spirit was then used to fill 11 purpose-built 20 litre casks coopered and donated by Adam Bone of Tasmania Cask Company.
A filled cask was then sent back to each distillery for maturation on site, and the result from Launceston’s apera cask is this limited-edition, small cask matured whisky, which is a blend of the best matured new-make that Tasmania has to offer. It’s a rare piece of Launceston Distillery’s history that would be the cornerstone of any Australian whisky collection.
This is our only bottle to sell – Bottle number 27 of 29
You may be wondering why Launceston’s name isn’t on the front label and why the back label of these bottlings say 11 cask were filled….? That’s because the bottling was done just before the Launceston Distillery had new-make spirit to contribute. So, the Tasmanian Whisky Producers Association (TWPA) gave them a cask filled with the 9 distilleries spirit as well, to mature for at least 2 years at Launceston. The TWPA then bottled the release.
