Taking excellence in whisky design to new heights is this special edition Hibiki 21-year-old released by the House of Suntory in 2015 for the Japanese travel retail market only. It has Mt. Fuji drawn in austere black and white colours with the foreground depicting Japanese plum, pine and bamboo symbolising health and good fortune. Rich, aromatic and aesthetically appealing, the packaging perfectly captures the spirit of Hibiki.
Limited to only 2000 bottles worldwide, this expression is the first edition of a 2-bottle release and has become highly sort after. It would make for a stunning display piece and if temptation gets the better of you, the whisky itself is delicious and considered by many experts to be the peak expression in the range.
The Hibiki bottle also doubles as a decanter that has 24 unique cuts. These facets are purposely designed to represent the 24 hours of the day and the 24 seasons of a traditional Japanese lunar calendar as the whisky rests and develops throughout the seasons and years.
