Description
Here’s a tidy cask strength whisky from Auchroisk distillery that predominantly distils whisky for the J&B brand. The 15-year-old whisky was finished in a Sauternes cask that yielded 286 bottles at 59.1% ABV. Like all Infrequent Flyers expressions, this whisky is bottled in its most authentic form – un-chill filtered with natural colour.
Limited stock has been allocated for the Australian market.
About Infrequent Flyers
The ‘Infrequent Flyers’ range is a series of single cask bottlings of Scotch whiskies brought to us by Alistair Walker, of Deanston, Tobermory, BenRiach, GlenDronach and Glenglassaugh fame. The expressions are predominantly single malts, though now and again Alistair does release a single grain. The brand name ‘Infrequent Flyers’ refers to the nature of many of the casks that are bottled – often whiskies from lesser-known distilleries that are of excellent quality, but have never been widely or consistently available.
About Auchroisk Distillery
Currently owned by Diageo, the Auchroisk distillery is located in Banffshire, Scotland in the Speyside region. It was established by the Justerini & Brooks company in 1972 to produce whisky for the J&B blend. The distillery produced its first single malt in 1978. The single malt was rebranded as ‘The Singleton’ in 1986, as the name ‘Auchroisk’ (pronounced ‘OH-thrusk’) was perceived as too difficult for consumers outside Scotland to pronounce. The name changed back to Auchroisk in 2001 and in 2008 the name was changed again, this time to ‘The Singleton of Auchroisk’ with the distillery now going back to their original name ‘Auchroisk’. (Yes, we agree all the name changes are confusing).
