Description
Hailing from the Ardnamurchan Peninsula, here’s an interesting release from Adelphi named after a rocky outcrop not far from the Ardnamurchan distillery, not to be confused with Charles MacLean’s own nose, although his nose would have definitely played its part in the creation of this whisky. The whisky is a celebration of Charles Maclean, whisky expert, mentor, and Adelphi’s official Chief Nose.
Blended to have a West Coast Character with both a high malt content (70%) and a high proportion of ex-sherry casks, the label uses crushed barley paper made from the by-product of whisky production. Like all Ardnamurchan and Adelphi indie releases, the whisky is un-chill filtered and of natural colour.
Made up from the following Malt and Grain Whisky:
• 40 ex Bourbon ASB of Malt Whisky distilled in the West Highlands (2018)
• 5 ex Bourbon ASB of Malt Whisky distilled in Campbeltown (2016)
• 16 ex Sherry hogsheads of Malt Whisky distilled in the West Highlands (2018)
• 21 ex Bourbon hogsheads of Grain whisky distilled in the Lowlands. (2017)
About Ardnamurchan distillery
Ardnamurchan distillery was built and is owned by Adelphi, an independent bottling company and is considered one of the remotest distilleries in Scotland.
With a keen eye on sustainability, the distillery is powered by renewable energy to reduce their carbon footprint via hydro-electric power and a large bio-mass boiler using timber from the nearby Ardnamurchan forest. The boiler provides heat to the distillery floor maltings and the distillery and the whisky is created using water from springs above the distillery drawing from the Glenmore River.
