About Pineau des Charentes.
Pineau des Charentes, a French fortified wine from the Charente region in western France, and is usually made by blending grape juice with Cognac eau-de-vie. When whisky is matured in these wine casks, it can absorb flavours like ripe grape or raisin notes, honeyed sweetness, subtle oak, spices, almonds, or toasted nuts depending on the wine style.
About Cadenhead’s Enigma series.
The whiskies in Cadenhead’s Enigma series are just that – unusual, hard to quantify, perhaps even slightly contradictory. They can be single casks, vattings of multiple casks, blends, blended malts or whatever else the team can find that doesn’t fit into their existing bottling line-up, but meets Cadenhead’s only essential criteria – that they’re delicious.
