About Cambus distillery
The Cambus distillery was founded in the early 1800’s and was opened in 1836 in a village that shares its name near Alloa, in the central lowlands of Scotland. The small team began quietly plying their whisky trade until a fire ripped through the distillery in 1913 destroying most of the infrastructure forcing them to close until 1938. Recommencing production for many decades, the distillery was finally shut down in 1993 as part of Diageo’s £100m production reorganisation. Its plant was removed and the site transformed into a cask filling operation and warehouses.
