Description
This single malt from Caol Ila was distilled in November 2009 and firstly matured in a refill bourbon hogshead (Cask #2100012) and then finished in a Tokaji wine barrique resulting in a balanced and well-constructed whisky. With only 433 bottles released world-wide, this Islay single malt pays tribute to the arts reflected though Samaroli’s meticulous ageing techniques, following though to their indicative labelling.
Interesting Fact
Tokaji is a traditional sweet wine exclusively cultivated in the wine-growing region of Tokaj, Northern Hungary. It is made exclusively from various, mostly local – white wine botrytised grapes, which are usually harvested late in the season. According to European Union regulations, only certain Hungarian Wines from the Tokaj region can officially be called ‘Tokaji’ or ‘Tokay’

A whisky that gets its claws in you and doesn’t hit reset. Complexity nirvana – Don’t let the 45% ABV fool you, Samaroli has mastered the art of cask-and-spirit-synergy, bottling liquid that drinks above its stated ABV. Think iodine, vanilla, leather and old encyclopedias. (Yep, we still own a set of 45-year-old Brittanica’s) 
with a finish that brings toasted grains and a welcome liquorice note. Delightful stuff!
