Description
This whisky is brought to us by independent bottlers of sherry finished whiskies; Darkness – owned by Atom Brands, the team behind That Boutique-y Whisky Company and Master of Malt.
With this expression, Darkness has taken Blair Athol spirit, aged for 14 years and then given it a final 3+ month evolution in hand coopered, fresh, first-fill Oloroso sherry cask octaves. These smaller 64L vessels allow for a greater conversation between wood and whisky creating maximum richness and depth of flavour.
Welcome to a new level of flavour intensity – Welcome to Darkness.
About Blair Athol Distillery
The distillery was founded in 1798 by John Steward and Robert Robertson and was originally named ‘Aldour’, after the Allt Dour burn the distillery draws it water from. It changed hands many times until eventually getting mothballed in 1932. In 1933, the distillery was purchased by Arthur Bell & Sons and today, is owned by Diageo. As much as 90% of the distillery’s output is bourbon cask matured and is assigned to Bells blended whiskies with a small percentage available for independent bottlers.
