The Glendronach 33-year-old is possibly the ultimate expression of the art of sherry cask maturation. After 33 long and quiet years laid to rest in small batch Oloroso Sherry casks, the result is nothing short of superb. Rarely are whiskies of this distinction bottled and rarer still are they fully sherry matured.
Distilled in 1971, this 33-year-old expression appeared in 2004 and at the time was the oldest and quite possibly the best Glendronach ever released. Boasting 95/100 from Jim Murray’s Whisky Bible and a Gold Medal at the San Francisco Spirits Competition, this is not a dram to rush or disrespect.
As Jim Murray comments…..“Want to know what Sherry should really nose like: invest in a bottle of this. This is a vivid malt boasting spellbinding clarity and charm. A golden nugget of a dram which would have been better still at 46%”95 points – Jim Murrays Whisky Bible 2014
The perfect investment grade whisky.
