Description
How good is Ledaig whisky! A hidden gem from the Tobermory distillery that has now hit the mainstream since they fired their still back up in 2019. This special whisky from Samaroli was distilled way back in 1992 around the same time the distillery was purchased by Burn Stewart Distillers, and still called Ledaig Distillery, approx 26 years before it was purchased by current owners; Distell.
With only 325 bottles released world-wide from a single Sherry Butt (#151), it’s another conversation whisky from Samaroli that rewards patience and is slow to reveal the some of its parts but then opens up beautifully. We won’t get into the whole “neck pour” conversation here… hehe!, we’ll leave that for you to decipher.
Interesting Fact
The Tobermory distillery still remains the only whisky distillery on the Isle of Mull. The distillery producers two different, but alluring, single malts: the fruity, unpeated Tobermory and the more robust and smoky Ledaig (pronounced letch-ick’), meaning ‘safe haven’ in Gaelic.
