Official tasting notes.
A captivating and age-defying rum, this spirit maintains a surprisingly light colour even after two decades of maturation. The initial olfactory journey introduces uncommon yet intriguing notes, such as lime, estery tones, paint, acetone, and olive brine. Kefir lime leaves contribute a unique aromatic twist. As the bouquet unfolds, citrusy delights emerge, featuring pink grapefruit, finer lime, and the fresh pineapple, passion fruit, green mango. Subtle undertones of liquorice roots, grain of paradise seeds add depth and complexity. On the palate, the experience is remarkably fresh, citrus-forward, and pungent, showcasing an exquisite elegance. The aromatic journey extends into a long and enchanting finish, making this rum a truly mesmerizing and memorable spirit.

Description
With a yield of 438 bottles from a single ex-bourbon cask, this 20-year-old rum was distilled at Diamond Distillery, home to the iconic El Dorado rum. Distilled in 2003 and bottled in 2023, it’s one hell of an age statement. Diamond is the only rum distillery in Guyana and part of a handful of Rum distilleries throughout the world who are producing outrageously good rum. Guyana rums are known to have exquisite depth, laden with aromatic essence and this expression ticks all those delicious boxes.
Samaroli rum differs to the majority of other rums as the spirit for this expression spent a portion of its 20 years ageing in Guyana and then the cask was sent to Scotland where it spent a bigger portion of its ageing in their cool and consistent climate. This process is all done under Samaroli’s watchful eyes and palate, and the result of this double maturation is a rum of incredible complexity, with any heat and/or volatiles basically aged out of the spirit with the additional Scottish slumber.
