Introduced to the market in 2006, this delicate but complex 17-year-old single malt is part of Macallan’s Fine Oak range and is triple cask matured in a unique and complex combination of exceptional oak casks; European and American oak casks seasoned with sherry and American oak casks seasoned with bourbon. Keeping with Macallan tradition, the stunning, golden colour is completely natural and is derived entirely from the synergy of spirit and wood.
John Hansell from the Malt Advocate calls it the highlight of the Fine Oak collection, commenting….
“Of the five Fine Oak expressions, this is my favorite – slightly besting the 15 year old. Lovely sweet notes (creamy vanilla, light toffee, marshmallow, shortbread, and a kiss of honey) are accompanied by bright fruit (multi-layered citrus) and potpourri of dried spices, along with a hint of nut and wisp of smoke. A very refined and sophisticated whisky”. 94 points – www.maltadvocate.com, (Spring 2006) Reviewed by: John Hansell
