Official tasting notes
As is characteristic of the Equinox & Solstice series, this is a vividly fresh and natural example of Pulteney. Gently coastal with notes of chalk, hessian and white flowers, but with enough peppery and lightly waxy backbone to evoke its Eastern Highland origins. Direct, charismatic and easy drinking – a perfect dram for sharing and for spring.

Description
This Equinox and Solstice 2024 Spring edition is a single refill hogshead of 2011 Teaninich Distillery, bottled at 13 years of aged and then reduced to an easy drinking strength of 48.5% ABV. An easy and dependable highland style malt, uncomplicated, viscous and with an impression of phenolics just beneath the surface which is quite unusual for the distillery.
Whisky Sponge comments.
The cask already displayed a higher than usual show of Teaninich’s more highland, waxy side, but in addition to that, it also has a subtle but distinct layer of peat running throughout. Whether that is from the distillate or the previous cask, we don’t know, but the result is really tasty and very special.
About Teaninich Distillery
The distillery was founded and built in 1817 by Hugh Munro on his estate of Teaninich Castle. These days, the distillery is known as Diageo’s work horse with the ability to pump out 10 Million + litres annually, producing malt whisky for its range of blends. As far as we know, there are no official bottlings other than a 10-year-old in their flora and fauna series.
