Japanese Whisky is modelled after Scotch, distilling malted and or peated barely before it is aged in unique wood barrels. The individuality in flavour comes from the smaller details in the Japanese distilling process. Water source, the shape of the distilling stills and the type of wood the aging barrels are made from. Some distillers use imported barrels, but others make theirs out of Mizuara, trees only found in Japan that adds its own unique flavour.
