Description:
Released in May 2022 via ballot, this French Oak ex-tawny (port) cask TD0280 was distilled in May 2008 during the Tasmania Distillery (TD) era under head distiller Patrick Maguire, and then decanted in October 2021 for a maturation of over 13 years in a single, 300L cask. Having assessed TD0280 regularly from 8 years onwards, the Sullivans Cove tasting panel found great texture and harmony throughout the entire maturation of this cask. On their last assessment, the syrupy mouthfeel and notes of beeswax told them that they had made the right decision in waiting over 13 years to bottle.
Heather Tillott, Distillery Manager comments:
“TD0280 is a goal achieved: Sullivans signature spirit, French oak, and Australian Tawny are all present, apparent and holding a delicious and harmonious space together. While the fine tannins of French oak create nuance among the rich, toasty Australian Tawny, our Sullivans Cove spirit is the canvas that allows them to spill their colour. Made possible by the combined work of the people at Sullivans Cove over the past 13 years”
Sullivans Cove French oak ex-Tawny has become one of the most sought-after whiskies in the world, and the bottle that put the Australian whisky industry on the map after winning World’s Best Whisky at the World Whiskies Awards in 2014 and 2019.
