Description:
Bottled to celebrate Ardbeg Day 2022 and the devil-may-care attitude of Ardbeg fans, the Ardcore Committee Exclusive is described by Dr Bill Lumsden as tasting “like biting on a spiky ball”. The expression is a part tribute to Islay’s obscure punk past and a celebration of ‘Punk Ellen’, the affectionate nickname for Islay’s harbour, Port Ellen in the 1970’s. As all Ardbeg expressions, the whisky is non-chill-filtered with no added colouring.
The Distillery comments:
“From a Distillery with more ups and downs that a pogoing punk comes Ardcore. Created with roasted black malt, roasted to the extreme, this spirit is all about what happens up front – centre stage. The malt is what defines its distinctive profile. Ardcore is a dram that wears its heart on its sleeve… its black heart”
Interesting fact:
The deep black roasted malt that characterises Ardbeg Ardcore has only ever been used once before by Moet Hennessy for their Glenmorangie Signet and is a first time for Ardbeg.
