Official Tasting Notes
Nose: Highly aromatic, this dram opens with a nutty, salty smoke with milk chocolate and leathery tobacco. The Oloroso casks have shaped this whisky with a rich syrupy orange and grapefruit citrus, along with hints of clove and cinnamon with walnut and praline. As it opens further, brown sugar, raisins, dried apple, melon and ripe pears come to the fore, with gentle peat smoke beautifully interwove
Palate: There is a wonderful viscosity and presence on the palate. Notes of smoked nuts and leather, warm orange marmalade on fresh scones. Dried apricot and hints of peppery spice toward the finish.
Finish: Earthy peat smoke comes to the fore with a little time, along with the fruit and nutty aromatics of the oloroso casks. A salty tang of sea breeze creates a lively combination of flavours to finish.

Description
Octomore 13.2 has Bruichladdich dancing to their own beat once again, maturing the whisky in a Fernando de Castilla, first-fill Oloroso Sherry-butt-matured beauty from the bodegas of Jerez, Spain. A lavish pour, it’s the first time the distillery has released a 100% sherry matured Octomore in their yearly series as they’re usually consigned to the Fèis Ìle (Islay whisky festival), and hot dayamn it’s a special treat, hitting the scales at 58.2% ABV.
We sampled this creation a few months ago and our tasting notes howled of hot crossed buns, concentrated blood oranges and smoked pistachios, all mingling with the sticky, dried fruity notes of the Oloroso sherry swaddled together with intense peat smoke and the vibrancy of the single malt. All these flavours, dancing off our tongues like a haunting minuet. Unforgettable, a whisky ordained in the feverish depths of Hades.
Sold out at the distillery, this is one rare Octomore, never to be repeated – get in quick before they’re destined to the annals of Octo-folklore.
Head Distiller Adam Hannett comments;
“There’s a beautiful influence from the full-term maturation in these first fill Oloroso sherry butts. They’ve matured in the dunnage warehouses in the village of Port Charlotte, and the combination of cask and a slow and cold maturation has really accentuated the salty tang of the spirit.”
